there's a TARGET in Hawaii! yay!

so, check it out: yes, there's TWO Target stores in Oahu now (1. Salt Lake near the airport and 2. Kapolei - west side of the island). i was gonna wait until the excitement died down, but i couldn't help myself. (apparently, people go ape-shit for anything from the mainland that comes to Hawaii! . . . now yours truly!) anyways, i was so happy BUT i didn't go ape-shit, just bought what i NEEDed. a little economic stimulation couldn't hurt. i've definitely done my good deed for the day as well as the thousands of other Hawaiian consumers.

things found at TARGET (that i was shocked by):
1. all the workers wear red aloha shirts and khakis
2. a shit ton of SPAM
3. pretty large grocery area: included its own "Asian food" aisle with halo-halo mix, soy products, pan de sal, etc; fruit (pineapple, bananas); poi in a bag! hahaha
4. hawaii souvenir section (probably to compete with Walmart)
5. the "Aloha spirit" of the employees: super friendly . . . this lady actually let us pay at the jewelry section and no irritation noted at all. we did have to go to the express lane afterwards to pay for our liquor, but again, super nice big hawaiian grandma joked around with us saying "oh, you havin' a pahdee?!" then their new cash register failed then she jokes again to ease the pain of waiting "oh, it's okey, you gonna have guud time latah at yo' pahdee. no worries! mahalo!" hahaha
i love hawaii!

during our "orientation" week, mary grace and i did a scavenger hunt meeting new people all over the hospital. we stumbled upon the anesthesia call room where we decided to rest our tired feet. the room as you can see is pretty ancient and has a twin size bed from the 80s! good times!
