Happy New Year - 60 day challenge

Yo peeps! it's a new year and my new year's resolution is to lose all this weight i feel i've gained from the stress of the working world, and of course from living in paradise which apparently has a price to pay if you're not keeping track of things. for some reason, not getting morning breaks or lunches does not mean you're going to lose weight. to some, like myself, it means you will leave work STARVING and ready to pig out on any comfort food you can find after work (which is usually late at night). also, i can no longer hide behind being a "broke ass student" since i now make a regular paycheck and have only the mister & puppy to look after. somehow, we seemed to have gone ape shit with all the hawaiian gourmets, late night eating, and eating out period.

soooooooooooooooo, i'm starting the new year up off my junk in the trunk. i've been inspired yet again on another infomercial that looks promising . . . INSANITY! its 60 days of intense cardio by Shaun T (from beachbody.com . . . same people that endorse P90X). i will also be trying SHAKEOLOGY, a meal replacement that has 70 ingredients to help with digestion, weight loss, lower cholesterol, and increase energy. . . . (i feel like the infomercial already) ok, so i really am NOT trying to sell you these products. i feel motivated if i say i will do something, so that's really all this is. if i can get you off your ass, then that's what friends are for, right?!

along with this venture john & i are about to endure (yes, i've got him into this too, works better with partners, does it not?), we have joined forces with a group of friends that have all decided to do a sort of "The Biggest Loser" challenge, if you will. there's a lot of money in the pot, since there are several of us. if you want in, you are welcome to join, but i caution you that you MUST BE SERIOUS because you may lose money . . . but you could lose weight too! (let me know or email john, since he's got the rules)

anyways, i'll keep you posted . . . we finished DAY 3 'Power Cardio & Resistance' today. i am sooo sore! arggghhhhhh!

DECEMBER 2009

-celebrated John's birthday in Kauai. It's been years since he's been back to Kauai and it was my first time. Kauai is GORGEOUS!!! definitely lives up to being the "garden island" its known as.
-only ~4 CRNAs left out of 14 that we started with. still having fun! lazy days in the OR because of the holidays . . .
-spent Christmas at home . . . got John a Le Creuset dutch oven (he made braised spareribs for our X-mas dinner), an iphone and a new wallet. I got a new whisker for my Kitchenaid, Twilight Scene-it (anyone wanna come over and play?) and a brand new camera (Canon G11)! yay!
-spent NYE on the North Shore at Camp Erdman Mokule'ia Beach. we woke up to a beautiful New Year's morning! Moseley had a lot of fun too!

NOVEMBER 2009

-ordered the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight and had a Filipino food tribute for the pacman. john made his famous pork adobo and i made my very first bibingka. it was masarap!
-went back to the Bay to hang with friends, my favorite sis-in-law & watch a good friend, now CRNA colleague (Malina) graduate from my alma mater (Samuel Merritt). Jessica D. also graduated & will be my new work homey too!
-finished reading "New Moon" the second time around & went to see the film with Estela . . . it was fantastic! (the book was obviously better and i know i'm a true 'twilighter' or 'twifan', so only you other 'twilight' fanatics will get me)
-flew back to Honolulu to spend Thanksgiving with the in-laws visiting from Tejas & Cali
-bought our 1st Hawaii Christmas tree
-definitely needed this break from work.

OCTOBER 2009

-took the newlyweds/honeymooners, Edna & Rudy, to a beautiful dinner @Azure (The Royal Hawaiian) . . . the moi was yummy!
-went to my very first tailgating party, then tried to sit through the brutal UH (Hawaii Warriors) vs. Fresno football game (yes, UH lost . . . badly!)
-i painfully experienced working my first and hopefully LAST 19 day stretch . . . i cannot even begin to tell you how exhausted i was and really thought i might actually hate anesthesia at the time. thankfully, i have a few peeps and my loving husband to cheer me on. but man-oh-man was i a living zombie after that!
-Halloween 2009: I went as a version of Cleopatra & John was my Marc Antony

SEPTEMBER 2009

-went back to San Francisco for John & I to stand in our good friends', Edna & Rudy, wedding. The wedding ceremony was held at the Mission San Rafael Arcangel and reception at The Spinnaker Restaurant in Sausalito. It was gorgeous!
-hung out with John's Advent buddies and had our annual Dungeness crab dinner. So yummy!
-our wonderful friend, Mary Grace, babysat Moseley while we were away . . . Moseley loves his Aunty MG!
-Aloha Fest 2009

-settled into our "hale"
-work continues with the highly dynamic "work politics" i avoided for so many years working nights . . . yet, i still LOVE anesthesia
-bought my first piano, a beautiful 46" ebony polish upright 'Pearl River'
-lots of partying with work friends
-Flotilla party - July 4th on Leilani & Blue's 50ft home (boat)
